Elections: Italy’s culture of abstention. 52 per cent do not identify with any political party
According to a survey by Cmr Intesa SanPaolo for *La Stampa*, those who are ‘non-affiliated’ are so mainly because they believe that politicians are not interested in the problems of ordinary people and that voting is pointless. According to 75 per cent of those surveyed, the categories of ‘right’ and ‘left’ no longer exist
She does not feel ideologically close to any political party. This is the picture painted by the majority of Italian voters (52 per cent), according to a survey by Cmr Intesa Sanpaolo for *La Stampa*. The ‘party of abstention’ – or of potential abstention – therefore appears to be gaining ground.
