Happy degrowth? No, sustainable development
It’s the right perspective for seven out of ten Veneto people: to continue progress by measuring its sustainability. 24% prefer to reduce production and consumption
At one extreme there are those who are convinced that the future of our society lies in a happy decline, and among the people of Veneto they are almost one in four. At the other extreme there are those who believe – there are very few of us: one in every 200 – that the only way forward is to continue with the same pattern of work and production that has been followed so far. But the overwhelming majority, more than seven out of ten Veneto people, are convinced that the way is another: finding a new, balanced progress, attentive to environmental sustainability, to the balance of global development in a world where so many are now looking forward to a higher quality of life than others have been living for so long.
