Pordenone, the centrepiece of the new manufacturing facility

No longer merely a cultural venue, but an open space and a catalyst for the region’s new economic development processes. This is what entrepreneurs are calling for. This is what the times demand. The new lease of life for the Verdi Theatre.
In 2015, the year marking its tenth anniversary, the Friuli theatre has embarked on a comprehensive process of reflection to re-examine its mission: no longer merely a cultural venue, but a driving force for development, capable of integrating cultural activity with the more strictly economic and business spheres.
The local community is calling for it. The times demand it. And this need emerges from a study presented in Pordenone on 1 December. The report, commissioned by the Teatro Verdi in partnership with BCC Pordenonese, Community Group and the Pordenone Industrialists’ Union, and carried out by Community Media Research, had a twofold objective: to analyse the significance of theatre in the city’s social and economic life, its level of importance, but also the sense of identity and belonging it fosters; to assess awareness of the relationship between the economy and culture, and of the role that theatre could play in the region’s socio-economic development, and to help shape its strategies for the future.
