Flexibility welcome – Interested in continuous dialogue with the company

In the run-up to the opening of negotiations with the unions for the important renewal of the Federmeccanica collective bargaining agreement, which is particularly complicated due to the general situation that we have already described in previous articles, Federmeccanica presented, at an interesting conference, research on the trends and behaviour of Italian metalworkers. The research was designed and carried out by Community Media Research and the title is already of particular interest: 'Out of Class, Workers and Representation of Work'. The research is based on a sample of 1,224 cases throughout the country and for all production sectors, both of employees (1,123) and managers and entrepreneurs (101). The research includes employees and employers precisely in order to capture the transformation of work observed from different points of view. This is the first time that a business organisation has commissioned a study of this kind to learn about the needs of workers in the new labour market, not relying on the filter of trade unions and cold statistical data, made available by Istat and other survey companies, to learn about them.
