Businesses give the public sector a failing mark
Public administration is lagging behind. The business world gives the ‘public sector’ and its bureaucracy a failing mark. According to a survey by the Venice and Rovigo Delta Lagoon Chamber of Commerce, carried out by Community among a group of 612 companies, as many as 62 per cent of local businesses say they are dissatisfied with the public administration. The only exceptions are the Fire Brigade (rated positively by 81.8%) and the NAS (77.4%), as well as the Chambers of Commerce (63.6%) and the Regional Government (59.3%). Bringing up the rear in the ‘public sector’ is the local council (40.4% for residents of Rovigo, 48.6 per cent for those in Venice), but also for Equitalia (38.8 per cent) and the Labour Inspectorate (35.7 per cent), which are a thorn in the side of almost all business owners.
