On the one hand, 'despite the first signs of an upturn in the national economy, the unemployment rate among young people (15-24 years old) stands at around 35 per cent, when in the rest of Europe it averages less than half (around 19 per cent)'. On the other hand, the latest case is denounced by the Padua-based company Antonio Carraro, 'some professional profiles remain unfulfilled by young people, with companies unable to find available, specialised manpower, to be inserted even with advantageous economic conditions'. In short, stresses sociologist Daniele Marini, summarising the research on the subject by Community Media Research (with Intesa Sanpaolo – Cassa Risparmio Veneto), "an asymmetry is taking shape between labour supply and demand that makes the market and its prospects like a quagmire in which it is difficult to disentangle oneself, where families, young people and businesses are each partly right. And all this produces, in the collective imagination, a short circuit".
