Passion towards politics (and partid) is wilting. A spectre hovers over the next regional elections and those to come: abstentionism. The case of the five municipalities in Trentino where the quorum of voters was not reached testifies to this plastically. This is not a new phenomenon, it is common to many European countries, but in Italy it is on the rise and causes concern. After Tangentopoli, the political system has not yet found a point of consolidation. Parties have changed their names several times, new ones are continually emerging; politicians (national and regional) change their positions (splits, spills, expulsions, changes of coat). All this makes the political scene unstable and uncertain AND fuels a climate of disenchantment (if it goes well), of protest (if it goes badly). This is why polls on voting intentions have a high margin of risk: people find it hard to understand what is happening and to expose themselves. So it pays to approach the analysis according to value orientations. A recent survey by Community Media Research offers useful insights for this reflection.
