Trade unions: a crisis with the younger generations
In the north-east, particularly in the areas between Trento and Trieste, the rejection rates are high. People in the Veneto region are more cautious, but young people and women feel it’s a long way off
People from Friuli and Trentino largely dismiss trade unions. Those from Veneto do not; they tend to feel that trade unions still hold some value, but there is no doubt that the relationship is in crisis, particularly amongst the ‘younger generations’ in the world of work. This is the picture that emerges from the new survey conducted by sociologist Daniele Marini, scientific director of the CMR-Community Media Research laboratory, in collaboration with Questlab. “Trade unions face a problem that is not linked exclusively to the number and composition of their members,” explains Marini, “but to the value attributed to them, to the role they play in society.
