Trade unions: a crisis with the younger generations<\/p>\n
In the north-east, particularly in the areas between Trento and Trieste, the rejection rates are high. People in the Veneto region are more cautious, but young people and women feel it\u2019s a long way off<\/p>\n
People from Friuli and Trentino largely dismiss trade unions. Those from Veneto do not; they tend to feel that trade unions still hold some value, but there is no doubt that the relationship is in crisis, particularly amongst the \u2018younger generations\u2019 in the world of work. This is the picture that emerges from the new survey conducted by sociologist Daniele Marini, scientific director of the CMR-Community Media Research laboratory, in collaboration with Questlab. \u201cTrade unions face a problem that is not linked exclusively to the number and composition of their members,\u201d explains Marini, \u201cbut to the value attributed to them, to the role they play in society. In other words, whether they are capable of effectively interpreting and representing the changes in the world of work.\u201d Although, as Marini points out, \u201cthe work of representation\u201d has today become increasingly complicated for all forms of association<\/p>\n
