Higher salaries for those who perform best at work
\nOver 90 per cent of people in the Veneto region consider the principle of meritocracy to be essential. Even so, those in the public sector still find it difficult to accept being assessed<\/p>\n
\u2018Personal fulfilment comes from one\u2019s salary, opportunities for growth and social relationships.\u2019 \u2018A meritocratic approach, albeit tinged with a sense of solidarity, is a widespread value in the North-East. However, discovering that as many as 90.1 per cent of the working population share this view suggests its prevalence extends beyond expectations.\u201d This is the finding of the analysis conducted by the CMR Laboratory, led by sociologist Daniele Marini. The world of work is undergoing profound changes. This time, however, it is not struggling businesses that have come under the microscope, but rather people\u2019s attitudes towards work. We must, however, begin by examining exactly how this world is changing. \u2018The crisis has demanded flexibility, adaptability, speed and competitiveness,\u2019 explains Marini. \u2018We are witnessing a blurring of boundaries between sectors and a breaking down of traditional boundaries. Tertiary functions are entering factories, the workforce is becoming \u2018knowledge workers\u2019, and machines and digital apps are \u2018disintermediating\u2019 workers. There is increasing talk of Industry 4.0. In short, philosophies are changing, corporate visions are being redefined, and the organisation of work is evolving.\u201d<\/p>\n
