The Venetians: \u2018Top-class in the economy, but not in politics\u2019<\/p>\n
Residents feel the heavy burden our region bears in terms of industrial and business development, yet they are acutely aware of their lack of influence over decisions taken in Rome. Differences with Friuli and Trento<\/p>\n
The \u2018Made in Veneto\u2019 label holds its own even on the international stage in terms of the economy and production capacity, which are linked to this region\u2019s local heritage (one need only think of the success of certain \u2018brands\u2019, including in the agri-food sector). At the same time, however, \u2018Made in Veneto\u2019 politics risks carrying far less weight, even when looking solely at the national level. And this is an unresolved picture that keeps recurring \u2013 the one painted by the new survey published by the Community Media Research laboratory, under the scientific direction of sociologist Daniele Marini, carried out in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo-Cassa Risparmio del Veneto. FROM \u2018GLOBALISATION\u2019 TO THE SPECIFIC CHARACTER OF THE TERRITORY. In the second half of the 1990s and at the start of the 2000s \u2013 or thereabouts, as everyone will recall \u2013 a sort of myth had emerged around the North-East: a region that was growing wealthy at a rapid pace and was courted by politicians, public opinion and even scholars studying the evolution of society.<\/p>\n
